Tips For Better Flossing

Flossing seems to be one of those things that we try to do but often don’t! But did you know, brushing alone only removes an average of around 43% of plaque?  That leaves 57% of the plaque that can cause tooth decay and gum disease. And it does not include the plaque between your teeth.  This is why flossing is so important.

In addition to brushing, flossing correctly in between teeth will remove the most amount of plaque, preventing decay and gum disease.

I remember when I first studying dental assisting, I was suprised the learn the correct way to floss.  It wasn’t just jamming some floss in between the teeth where food was caught and leaving it at that.  ‘

The following video is a great way to learn the correct flossing technique.  This video can also be useful for the younger ones in the household.

Remember, your mouth is the gateway to your insides – it’s important to keep it healthy!!
