Amalgam Vs Composite Fillings

Do you still have the older style, dark, amalgam fillings in your teeth? Not happy with the appearance of them or are they starting to deteriorate?  Did you know that we only use the white, composite materials for your fillings at our practice?

Having amalgam fillings in your teeth is very normal as it was once widely used across all dental clinics for decades.

We now use the white composite fillings, not only for improved aesthetics, but also because they bond to teeth extremely well creating a great seal.  Unlike amalgam fillings, the composite restorations do not flex under pressure or shrink/expand with hot or cold.  They are better for keeping more of your natural tooth structure also.

If you are interested in replacing your older fillings, or would like them checked, please contact us.
