Regular Prize Give Aways

Did you know that we have regular prize give aways? You are automatically in the draw if you are an adult who attends your regular six monthly check ups.  But, we have not forgotten the little ones!  We also have a colouring in competition for children who visit Kathleen, our Oral Health Therapist.

So far we have had the pleasure of giving our loyal patients some wonderful gifts.  From hampers to electric tooth brushes, kids toys and so much more.  We always announce our winners and show our prizes on our Facebook page.

Why are regular check ups so important?

We strongly encourage that each of our patients see us six monthly for their regular check ups.  They are crucial in finding dental disease early, preventing further damage and keeping dental treatment costs

to a minimum.  Just like servicing your vehicle, dental check ups help to maintain good oral hygiene and prevent dental discomfort or disease.

If you are a patient that has extras with a private health fund, you will find that your fund will honour maximum refunds on dental checkups every six months.

What happens at your dental checkup appointment?

Every six months  when you come in for your checkup, the dentist will do a full oral examination.  During this inspection, they will check all teeth, gums and soft tissues.  They visually check for any tooth damage/disease and thoroughly check cheeks, lips and tongue for oral cancers, ulcers or trauma.

We recommend xrays every two years.  Two xrays are taken.  One on the left and one on the right.

These xrays show us in between teeth and also under any fillings

or crowns.  These areas are often a little harder to clean so taking these xrays can detect any decay that may be present or starting.

Finally, we do a detailed clean.  With our special instruments we can remove hard calculus build up.  This is a natural calcium build up that cannot be removed with a regular tooth brush.  This is vital for our gum health.  We finish the clean with a gentle polish, removing plaque and surface stains.  Fluoride is then applied to help fight tooth decay.
