Dr David Chen
Dr. David Chen is the principle dentist of Ipswich Dental Care. He graduated from the University of Queensland in 2002. Having experience in both public hospital and private practice, he enjoys all aspects of dentistry. With a special interest in Orthodontics, he has completed 2 years of additional training which enable him to do orthodontic treatment on both adults and children.
Dr Chen works in a gentle and caring manner to ensure that he makes dental treatment easy and comfortable for his patients. He is the creator of our practice philosophy and is passionate about a team approach to dental care. He is committed to helping you look after your teeth for life. He treats all patients with care and respect to foster a lifelong relationship.
He has undertaken a course in progressive orthodontic seminar series which allows him to take on most orthodontic cases. He is currently furthering his studies and practices in placement of dental implants, endeavouring to offer the service to our patients in the very near future.
Over the years, Dr David Chen has actively participated in Volunteer Dental treatment for the disadvantaged people in the community – organised by the Tzu Chi Charity organization. He attends the Annual Dental Fair where they provide dental treatment to the refugees settled in the local communities.
In his personal life, he enjoys Photography and spending time with his 5 year old son Hayden and 2 year old daughter Caitlyn.
Dr Christie Lee
Originally from South Korea, Christie immigrated to Australia from the US when she was 12 years old and grew up in Brisbane where she received her Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Queensland with Honours. Since then, she has gained experience from various positions in the public sector and private practice in the Sunshine Coast hinterland before joining the team at Ipswich Dental Care.
Christie strongly believes in working together with her patients to achieve their desired oral health goals by taking her time to understand their needs.
Her primary focus is to always provide dental treatment in a gentle and caring manner. She has had valuable experiences working with dental phobic patients and helped them overcome their fear to achieve their goals. She finds great reward when her patients leave the clinic with a big smile.
Christie is particularly interested in the restorative side of dentistry, including fixed prosthodontics. She is passionate about providing only the necessary treatment with long-term goal of helping her patients keep their teeth for life.
Christie also enjoys seeing patients of all ages, including children. She understands their need and communicates in a manner they will understand. Creating a positive dental experience for children is her main focus, as this help create good oral health behavior for life.
Outside of clinic, Christie enjoys spending time with her two dogs- Jelly the pug and Beanie the labrador. Also, as a self-claimed foodie, she loves going on little food adventures with her friends.
Oral Health Therapist – Kathleen Vu
Kathleen completed her Bachelor of Oral Health degree at the University of Queensland in 2013. She has had some experience working in the public sector but has predominantly been working in private surgeries in which she enjoys seeing patients of all ages.
As an Oral Health Therapist, Kathleen works with the dentists at Ipswich Dental Care to identify any factors in patient’s lifestyle and habits that can have a negative contribution to their own oral health which can put them at risk of dental caries and gum disease. She will give advice and instructions on how to prevent these oral diseases from occurring.
She enjoys seeing children and teenagers up to the age of 18 years old for their dental exams, clean and restorative work. Her specialty for patients over this age is her gentle but thorough scale cleans at their active maintenance visits. She can also change wires and elastics for patients undergoing orthodontic treatment.
Kathleen aims to make sure patients leave her surgery looking forward to their next visit with her. She takes the time to connect with patients and makes sure they are comfortable during the treatment.
Kathleen enjoys spending her weekends with her young family out and about and baking delicious treats.
